ASSISTANT RURAL CARRIER (ARC) – United States Postal Service

This position delivers packages on Sundays and observed holidays, with additional duties on Saturdays. ARCs are non-career employees who may be required to supply a suitable vehicle, and will receive an Equipment Maintenance Allowance if they provide their own vehicle.

• Scheduled days:
  Saturday, Sunday, and holidays observed by USPS on an as-needed basis.
• Onboarding period includes required weekday training.
• Hours vary.

• Salary range: $20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

• Loads packages in delivery sequence into vehicle.
• Delivers packages and mail to customers along a prescribed route.
• Sorts mail in delivery sequence for assigned route.
• Receives and signs for accountable mail.
• Loads mail and packages into vehicle.
• Delivers and collects mail and packages, collecting receipts and monies for accountable mail; picks up mail from customer roadside boxes.
• Provides routine information on postal matters to customers.
• Returns undeliverable mail and delivers collected mail to post office.
• Prepares accurate time records.
• Ensures mail security at all times.

• Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
• At least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger or larger vehicles in the U.S., its territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide.
• Ability to provide a suitable vehicle (if employer-provided vehicle not assigned).
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
