Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Employment Specialist

Supportive Service for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a program that provides assistance to very low-income Veteran families who are experiencing homelessness and/or are at imminent risk of homelessness to gain and retain stable housing.

The SSVF Employment Specialist supports housing stability for very low-income Veteran households experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness by increasing earned income and access to benefits. This role provides employment services, job readiness support, and income coordination in alignment with the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. The position exercises independent judgment and discretion in assessing participant needs, developing and implementing employment and income strategies, and prioritizing services to achieve housing stability and long-term self-sufficiency.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology/counseling, or a related field and two years of related experience required. Effective verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills required. Ability with training to use computerized case management applications to enter and track participant information; ability to understand and explain program details and workflow required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experiential knowledge as a military veteran and/or with homelessness; training, education, or experience with social services support desirable. Knowledge of the HUD Homeless Management Information System desired.

Anticipated Pay Range

$55,

Special Conditions
  • Probationary period may be required
  • Contingent on continued funding
  • Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime)
  • Travel to and from worksites required
  • This position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy
