GeneralPurpose
To install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test all electrical and electronic apparatus including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and associated equipment at BED’s generating facilities.
Union Affiliation: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)
Pay Grade 11: $27.38 – $44.88 hourly
Remote Tier 1: Zero days remote per week

Essential Job Functions- Install, repair, and program all electrical equipment at the plant, including high‑voltage components of the electrostatic precipitator, transformer rectifiers, control adjustments, DC components, supply voltage, breakers, control circuits and electronics, rappers, controls, hopper heaters, level probes, grounds, and data and voice communication equipment.
- Learn to maintain, modify, wire, and program the programmable logic controllers (PLCs) at BED’s generating facilities.
- Maintain and install new wiring of the generating facility control system, including control panels, CRT, and process computers.
- Install, repair, and/or maintain electrical and electronic equipment associated with the high‑pressure boiler, turbine, generator, fuel handling, lighting, fire alarm, security, and communications at BED’s generating facilities.
- Perform electrical maintenance on security/surveillance systems, including closed‑circuit TV.
- Perform maintenance on all BED generating facility station heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
- Operate and maintain various turbines (e.g., jet engines, gas expander turbines, hydro turbines).
- Perform the gas turbine (GT) on‑call responsibility on a rotating basis by responding to after‑hour callouts to qualify the GT for the ISO‑New England Forward Reserve Market (FRM).
- Maintain analog boiler control system.
- Perform switching and grounding of 13.8 kV electrical equipment within McNeil Generation as required.
- Operate manually and remotely 35 kV equipment at McNeil Generating Station.
- Maintain and modify electrical distribution systems for the production facilities, including voltages of 13,800 VAC, 4,160 VAC, 480 VAC, 220 VAC, 110 VAC, 125 VDC and lower.
- Perform electrical testing such as meggering, HIPOT testing, and safety testing on electric tools, ground faults, emergency lighting, uninterruptible power supplies, and 125 VDC batteries.
- Perform electrical maintenance on station trucks and loaders.
- Contact vendor on equipment‑related problems.
- Assist technicians with maintenance and modifications to plant instrumentation components.
- Perform electrical preventive maintenance checks and maintain equipment records and drawings.
- Train new electrician employees as required.
- Perform safety inspections and record keeping on all electrical tools.
- Maintain records on electrical equipment, PMS, motors, etc.
- Rebuild small motors.
- Maintain 125 VDC control and emergency power system.
- Produce as‑built drawings of any electrical changes at the station.
- Operate heavy equipment including forklift, lift platform, and small bucket truck.
- Unload railcars as needed.
- Clean assigned areas as directed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Job Requirements

- State of Vermont Journeyman Electrician license.
