We’re looking for a motivated Apprentice Telecom Lineman to support our expansion and develop into a future leader in the field. If you are looking for a career, we actively promote from within. This position is based out of our new Burlington, VT location.
What Will You Do- Read design maps and run fiber installations using assist wheel and figure‑8 lasers
- Successfully climb poles and maintain productivity
- Build strand, lash cable, and fiber, and handle basic pole transfers
- Assemble stock items such as snow shoes and bands
- Load a lasher and manage crew paperwork (daily production and documentation)
- Familiar with and understand the use of all tools and stock
- Maintain the truck with day’s job assignment stock
- Check oil and perform VIR before every shift
- Organize and clean the truck, both inside and out
- Advise and train crew members on the levels below you
- Conscientiously maintain personal safety and the safety of all crew members on the job site
- Consistent on‑time attendance
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks
- Comfortable working at heights; ability to operate a bucket truck and climb ladders
- Regular contact with co‑workers and customers
- Pass OSHA‑10 Certification within 90 days of starting
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- Pass and continue to pass a DOT physical
- Understand that travel, night, weekend, holiday, and on‑call work may be required
- Be prepared for overtime work
- Standard hours 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., but may start earlier or finish later based on job demands
- Exposure to extreme heat, cold, wet conditions, airborne dust, and loud noises
- Regularly lift up to 40 lbs from floor to above head
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach, and use both hands and feet in aerial and underground work
- Exposure to hazards and physical risks requiring basic safety precautions
Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and use both hands and feet in aerial and underground capacity. Drive and operate a vehicle and/or bucket. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, wet conditions, vibration, and loud noise. Requires extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, communication via telephone, computer, or face‑to‑face, and use of basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, and fax machines.

Expected compensation includes $18 to $24 an hour and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and a 401(k) retirement plan available for eligible employees. Compensation may vary by education, training, experience, skills, geographic location, seniority, merit, and other job‑related factors.
