Our compassionate team is at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing and the Gardenview Manager while providing leadership across our Traditional and Gardenview communities.
Position Overview:The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a vital leadership role in overseeing day‑to‑day nursing operations, supporting staff development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining excellence in resident care. This position works collaboratively with nursing leadership, administration, and caregivers to ensure a safe, supportive, and survey‑ready environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership, supervision, and oversight of daily nursing department operations.
- Support the Director of Nursing and Gardenview Manager to ensure continuity of care and effective clinical operations.
- Communicate effectively with all staff and meet regularly with nursing leadership.
- Maintain strong knowledge of state assisted living regulations and Converse Home policies to ensure compliance and staff competency.
- Ensure the nursing department remains survey‑ready and assist with preparation of required reports.
- Oversee clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and best practices; provide staff education and re‑training as needed.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of Traditional residents’ functional status and ensure service plans are complete and responsive to resident needs.
- Participate in resident and family conferences, particularly when changes in level of care occur.
- Assist with off‑site assessments and evaluations of prospective residents.
- Participate in the hiring, orientation, and training of RCA, LNA, LPN, and RN staff, ensuring understanding of scope of practice and job responsibilities.
- Promote professional growth and development for all direct care staff.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant to coordinate and troubleshoot nursing staff schedules.
- Supervise caregivers in both Traditional and Gardenview communities and complete annual performance evaluations.
- Conduct Coaching for Improvement sessions to support staff performance and accountability.
- Participate in rotating on‑call coverage and assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Current Vermont RN license required.
- Experience in assisted living, long‑term care, or a related healthcare setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, service planning, and clinical documentation standards.
