How you make a differenceThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities aligned with their education and competencies.
Key Responsibilities- Under RN supervision, assesses patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions to contribute to individualized treatment planning and consult with RNs and staff as needed.
- Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administers medications (including IV therapy if certified), and performs diagnostic tests according to established protocols.
- Participates in controlled substance counts at the start of each shift, follows safety techniques and standard precautions, and responds to codes or emergencies within standard guidelines.
- Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, upholding policies and procedures to provide high-quality patient care.
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
- Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
