Overview:

This role is responsible for building and managing relationships with individuals capable of making significant financial contributions. This role plays a key part in expanding philanthropic support within a healthcare organization and contributes to the strategic direction of donor engagement. Working closely with other team members in the fundraising department, this individual develops and executes strategies to connect with high-potential donors, supporting the broader mission of the institution.

This is a frontline fundraising role that requires the ability to engage with internal leaders, community influencers, and prospective donors to advance funding priorities and sustain long-term donor relationships.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Donor Engagement: Identify and manage a portfolio of individual donors with the potential to make major contributions. Particular focus will be on those who have demonstrated strong annual giving patterns and show potential for increased engagement.
  • Portfolio Management: Develop customized engagement and solicitation plans for high-value donors, maintaining close coordination with internal leadership, philanthropic colleagues, and volunteer advocates.
  • Collaborative Strategy Development: Work closely with peers across the organization to foster shared ownership of fundraising goals and to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the institution.
  • Program Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of fundraising initiatives and department-wide goals.
  • Communications and Messaging: Create compelling proposals, donor communications, and materials that align with institutional priorities and clearly convey the impact of philanthropic support.
  • Internal Relationship Building: Establish productive working relationships with clinicians, researchers, and administrative leaders to stay informed on institutional priorities and key developments in the medical field.
  • Donor-Centered Coordination: Partner with philanthropy colleagues to ensure all interactions with donors are well-coordinated, strategic, and respectful of each donor’s interests.
  • Annual Planning: Support the development of annual operating goals, assess prior year performance, and help set measurable objectives for future success.

Demonstrates a high level of responsiveness and professionalism when interacting with donors and internal stakeholders. Resolves issues promptly and ensures that all touchpoints with donors are handled with care and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or a related field
  • Ability to travel within the region to meet with donors and prospects
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team while also managing an individual portfolio
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and donor relationship management tools; ability to analyze data and maintain donor records
