Position: Ice Cream Flagship Experience Scoop Shop Manager

Role Overview

The Flagship Experience Scoop Shop Manager will oversee operations at the Burlington flagship scoop shop, supervise the VT Catering business, and live Ben & Jerry’s 3‑part mission daily. The manager will report to the General Manager of VT Brand Experiences and work from the Church Street location in Burlington, VT.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee flagship scoop shop operations, daily communications, payroll, staffing, and Vermont Catering operations.
  • Supervise the VT Catering Manager and Assistant Managers, providing 1:1 growth & development conversations and corporate performance plans.
  • Lead a team of 50 hourly staff, including hiring, orientation, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
  • Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Scoopers United, maintaining frequent union communications, monthly meetings, and negotiations.
  • Provide effective coaching and feedback to direct reports and hourly staff.
  • Work with Hospitality General Manager to prepare and oversee departmental budget, finance, and profit/loss forecasting.
  • Plan and execute store marketing initiatives to drive top‑line sales and brand awareness.
  • Proactively identify and resolve customer and staff issues affecting shop operations.
  • Collaborate with corporate retail operations on new products and messaging that enhance the flagship experience.
  • Ensure safe and adequate staffing through advanced scheduling.
  • Partner with retail operations and Scoop University to maintain corporate operational guidelines.
  • Develop and implement training and orientation programs emphasizing excellent customer service.
  • Oversee daily financial processes, including cash management, bank procedures, inventory, register accuracy, and sales reporting.
  • Maintain accurate daily cash reconciliation and sales summaries.
  • Attend store planning and development meetings with General Manager, department managers, and company initiatives.
  • Manage inventory ordering, receiving, storage, and invoicing.
  • Serve as on‑site manager for emergency situations and participate in first aid and emergency response.
Qualifications
  • Highly professional, patient, energetic, team‑oriented with a can‑do attitude and commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • 6+ years of hospitality or customer service experience, with supervisory experience in retail or food service.
  • Flexible work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in a high‑volume, fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Experience managing or working within a unionized workforce.
  • Proven leadership through motivation, development, and inspiration.
  • Strong accounting/finance background and understanding.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision‑making skills.
  • Experience handling customer complaints and providing effective guest service recovery.
  • Strong follow‑through, organization, and time‑management skills.
  • Strong project management and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Calm under stressful situations and capable of emergency response.
  • Self‑motivated, autonomous, proactive, and responsive disposition.
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, Salesforce).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to handle oversize merchandise, bulk containers, supply orders, and long standing periods.
Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $58,700 to $86,280. Bonus eligible. Unilever employees may participate in health, dental, vision, retirement savings, life insurance, and other voluntary benefits. Benefits details are governed by Unilever benefit plans.
