Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of clinical assistant/associate professor to serve as a clinical faculty member and Department of Nursing Director of Simulation Education. In addition to contributing to the teaching mission of the department, this position provides strategic, administrative, and faculty leadership for all simulation-based education within the Department of Nursing, including low-, medium-, and high-fidelity simulation.
This is a 10-month appointment.
- Teach in the undergraduate and/or graduate Nursing programs
- Provide leadership for all nursing simulation activities.
- Design, implement, and evaluate simulation learning experiences aligned with curricular outcomes.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty on scenario design and standardized patient training.
- Serve as Department of Nursing representative on CSL Operations Team and Advisory Board.
- Support faculty development in simulation pedagogy across CNHS and interprofessional partners.
- Track simulation budgets and recommend new technologies and materials.
- Doctorate in Nursing with an emphasis in simulation preferred (PhD or DNP)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing education program required
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential eligibility
- Current or eligible unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Vermont
- Demonstrated expertise in simulation education and debriefing methodologies
- Experience in teaching Nursing curriculum
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical nursing experience in direct patient care
- At least two consistent years of focused implementation of simulation practices, to include design, mentorship and professional development participation
- Strong interest in innovation, emerging technologies, and faculty development

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive Department of Nursing committed to excellence in clinical teaching, student mentorship, and innovative nursing education. The Department includes approximately 40 full‑time and 40 part‑time clinical faculty who work collaboratively to educate a vibrant and diverse student body of more than 500 undergraduate students and over 100 graduate students. Academic offerings include an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Direct Entry Master’s program, and a Doctor Nursing Practice (DNP) program, including a direct entry option.
