Recreation Program Instructors work in cooperation with Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront staff to help facilitate recreation classes, camps, & special events. Recreation Program Instructors are responsible for designing lesson plans, teaching, providing materials & supplies, managing students and facilities during class time. Recreation Program Instructors will be assigned to Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront community centers and teaching in specific community center spaces and classrooms.

Union Affiliation: Non-Union
Pay Grade: $19.15 - $25.00 Hourly
Remote Tier 1: Zero (0) days remote/month
Positions Available:
  • Drop In Recreation Program Instructors: Work in cooperation with BPR&W staff to help facilitate drop-in programs.
  • Youth Recreation Program Instructors: Work in cooperation with BPR&W staff to help facilitate Youth classes and Camps.
  • Adult Recreation Program Instructors: Work in cooperation with BPR&W staff to help facilitate Adult classes.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Ability to actively support City’s diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Applicable recreation program skills and safety knowledge required.
  • At least one year of teaching experience required.
  • Class specific certification or educational training preferred.
