candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum of a high school diploma/ged, and meet the expectations of the northern lights career development center level 1 in order to qualify as a teaching assistant as stated in the vermont early childhood regulations. Interested persons should be hard working, dependable, team players, and be willing to advance academically, as annual training is a state requirement.

this full-time position pays $21.50 - $22.00 per hour (based on qualifications) paid bi-weekly on wednesday.

duties
  • all of our teaching staff are responsible for upholding state and school policies as well as maintaining classroom/school cleanliness and organization.
  • assistant teachers help with delivering age appropriate curriculum as directed from their lead teacher, and contribute to the development of age-appropriate curriculum as they are ready or interested.
  • assistant teachers will have some communication with parents about their children during drop off and pick up times, and so a professional and cheerful disposition is a must.
  • all teachers are responsible for providing loving care to the children in our school.
requirements
  • all candidates must meet the requirements set forth by the child development division.

  • vacation - each full-time staff member is entitled to one week paid vacation (5 days) after the first year of service.
  • sick time - each employee is entitled to one week paid vacation (5 days) after probationary period.
  • full vision - each full-time employee is entitled to full vision coverage after 90 days.
  • full dental - each full-time employee is entitled to full dental coverage after 90 days.
  • additional pay benefit - if an employee declines vision and dental insurance after their 90 day waiting period they receive an additional $0.25 in hourly wages.
  • after 2 years of service, full-time employees are eligible to participate in the company medical savings plan

  • holidays - eight (8) paid holidays per year (new years, memorial, independence, labor, thanksgiving, and the following friday, christmas eve, and christmas).
  • professional days - additional paid vacation days as per our school closing calendar.
  • paid professional development - up to 15 paid hours of professional development each year.
  • paid volunteer time - 2 paid volunteer days each year.
  • roving holiday - one paid holiday of the employee’s choosing each year.
  • service bonuses - cash bonuses at 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of service.
  • referral program - $250.00 for each new client signed on due to the employee’s referral.
  • discounted child care tuition - 50% discount on services for full-time employees with children at frog&toad (restrictions apply).
  • paid travel - for travel outside of normal commute (e.g., training outside of chittenden county).
  • healthy lifestyle - $100.00 annually for items such as shoes, park passes, fishing license, massage, etc.
  • telemedical and teletherapy - optional services that can be used with or without other health insurance coverage.
