Position Overview
The Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM) seeks a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering, with an expected start date of August 24, 2026 for the Fall semester. The successful candidate will teach courses in engineering design and biomedical topics, develop and lead courses that span all four undergraduate years, and advise, mentor, and support students through academic and professional development.
The applicant will serve as an instructional leader within UVM’s Center for Biomedical Innovation (CBI) and collaborate with the Bio Labs Innovation Center to strengthen academic research commercialization and connect with industry, local health providers, and the regional innovation ecosystem.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering design and biomedical topics. Develop and lead courses that span all four undergraduate years. Advise, mentor, and support students through academic and professional development. Serve as an instructional leader within UVM’s Center for Biomedical Innovation (CBI) and collaborate with the Bio Labs Innovation Center. Strengthen academic research commercialization and links with industry, local health providers, and the regional innovation ecosystem.
Qualificationsand Experience
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
- Significant teaching experience and a strong teaching philosophy; a 1-page teaching statement is required.
- Industry, research, or development experience in biomedical innovation; experience in rural healthcare, biomechanics, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, computational modeling, or drug delivery is preferred.
- Commitment to UVM’s mission and Our Common Ground values; a 1-page Our Common Ground statement is required.
- Strong record of scholarship, service, and collaboration; research expectations for a Lecturer are limited.
