Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and remote telemetry monitoring experience.

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Specialized stroke (neuro) patient population alongside patients with multiple co-morbidities
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–1:6
• Proficiency in remote telemetry monitoring required; on-unit telemetry monitoring experience preferred
• Procedures include feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, central line care and management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, and IV starts
• Additional clinical skills include CVA care, nasal cannula oxygen delivery, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac management
• Epic EMR — experience is mandatory
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required; holiday coverage as needed
• Floating between all health system facilities is required for all travelers
• All RNs must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during the compliance process — two attempts are allowed; study materials are not provided by the facility, so candidates should prepare in advance
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Remote telemetry monitoring experience required
• Feeding tube care and management experience required
• Experience with the clinical procedures listed (port access, central/PICC/peripheral line management, blood product administration, IV starts) required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
