Data Analyst, Systems Engineer
Labcorp is seeking a Lead Project Analyst/Engineer to join our team at our Burlington, NC location.
Location: Burlington, NC
Applicants who live within 35 miles of Burlington, NC will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in‑office days per week, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.
Work Schedule: This is a full time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.
Job Responsibilities Project & Technical Execution- Analyze project requirements and create technical specifications using established documentation templates.
- Develop code in alignment with established coding standards for mainframe applications.
- Perform unit testing and produce required test documentation, including unit test plans and test summaries.
- Support QA and user acceptance testing efforts as needed.
- Conduct research and debugging activities to resolve issues efficiently.
- Provide technical support for production tickets when assigned.
- Contribute to project activities including stand‑ups, status reviews, and technical discussions across waterfall and agile teams.
- Support post‑deployment activities for assigned projects.
- Submit weekly status reports summarizing assignment progress.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure technical solutions meet project goals and system requirements.
- Communicate effectively in team settings and work independently when required.
- Participate in ongoing enhancements, documentation updates, and operational improvements.
- 12 or more years of experience as a mainframe developer or engineer supporting enterprise‑level systems.
- 5 or more years of experience with COBOL for IBM z/OS.
- 5 or more years of experience with JCL.
- 5 or more years of experience with DB2 and SQL.
- 5 or more years of experience with VSAM file processing.
- 5 or more years of experience using TSO/ISPF in mainframe environments.
- 5 or more years of experience performing research, analysis, and debugging for complex systems.
- 5 or more years of experience creating technical specifications, unit test plans, and test documentation.
- 2 or more years of experience using CICS.
- 2 or more years of experience using reporting or batch‑processing tools such as Quikjob, Vision:
Report, or Easytrieve. - 2 or more years of experience using File‑Aid or File Manager for data/file utilities.
- 2 or more years of experience with DB2 utilities such as ADB, QMF, SPUFI, or FM/DB2.
- 2 or more years of experience with change management tools such as SCLM or Change Man/zMF.
- 2 or more years of experience using IBM RDz or IDz.
- 2 or more years of experience with CICS web services.
- 2 or more years of experience using Gen or COOL:
Gen. - 2 or more years of experience using Guard
IEn in Gen environments. - 2 or more years of experience using SBM or other ticket management platforms.
- 2 or more years of experience using Confluence or Jira.
- 2 or more years of experience using OPC, TWS, or IWS job scheduling tools.
The Lead Project Analyst/Engineer provides technical leadership and development support for the mainframe‑based Labcorp Billing System. This role performs analysis, coding, debugging, documentation, testing, and production support, partnering closely with project teams across both waterfall and agile delivery models. The position contributes to technical solutioning, operational stability, and ongoing modernization initiatives.
