Design Intern - Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Design HVAC Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our dedicated team at our Burlington, Massachusetts office location.

In this role, you will apply engineering fundamentals and project-related services in support of design assignments. This developmental position will enable you to learn to apply theoretical knowledge to practical application.

Additional Responsibilities

* Work with assigned design engineers and drafters to execute design drawings and specifications as required to support assigned projects.

* Ensure code and statute compliance in all projects.

* Use computer-aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.

* Routinely archive and retrieve data from the electronic database for support of work.

* Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the Project Designer/Engineer.

* Expected to become proficient in the use of a computer for Design and CAD applications.

* Maintain a neat and organized work area, which allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.

* Keep the Project Designer/Engineer aware of workload and request work when needed.

* Special projects as assigned.

The hourly pay offered for this role is between $23.00 and $25.00 an hour, based on years of education.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in design engineering from an accredited technical institution or college.

* Proven time management skills to juggle more than one project at a time.

* Customer Service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills.

Context, Environment, & Safety

* Travel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location.

* This position is a safety sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other "non-administrative" areas.
