Thataways Youth Center is part of Burlington City Park. The facility is home to the Burlington Youth Council and the Teen To Teen Video and Theatre program, offering something to every age. Thataways is also used as a site for after school care and summer day camps.

Responsible for operation of recreation center and assisting with programs and special events at center and city wide special events.

• Facility Oversight:
  Support the management of the physical building as needed.
• Program & Event Support:
  Assist with the execution of programs and special events.
• Maintenance Reporting:
  Evaluate the center and park areas, promptly reporting any maintenance needs.
• Fee Collection:
  Handle program fee collection with accuracy and professionalism.
• Rental Assistance:
  Provide support during facility rentals to ensure smooth operations.
• Communication Support:
  Answer phone calls and provide information or assistance as required.

• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Facility Operations:
    Possess general knowledge of opening and closing procedures for the recreation center.
  • Procedural Awareness:
    Understand and follow operational procedures within the recreation center.
  • Effective Communication:
    Engage with the public and staff professionally and clearly.

    Collaboration:
    
    Carry out responsibilities as directed by the center director.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Demonstrate basic computer skills for administrative and operational tasks.
  • Safety Preparedness:
    Ability to obtain certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED to ensure a safe environment.

• A High School education
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

• Work in this position is light work, requiring exertion of up to 47 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amounts of force constantly to move objects.
• Employee must have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
• May include both inside or outside working conditions; however, the majority of work is inside.
• Employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

The City of Burlington does not offer benefits to part-time positions which require less than 1000 work hours per calendar year.
