This is a contract position to support the ongoing network administration needs of the Company over the next three to six months. Reporting to the IT Director and working closely with our Senior Network Administrator, this position is based in our Burlington, MA office. The team works Monday through Thursday in person each week, with the ability to work remotely on Fridays.
In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to deliver value in the following areas:
- Perform routine network administration tasks following documented procedures and approvals.
- Perform routine systems administration tasks within a Windows-based environment following established standards, runbooks, and approvals.
- Assist with configuration and maintenance of switches, wireless access points, and network ports as required.
- Assist with basic administration of Windows servers, including user access changes, service restarts, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Monitor network health and alerts, escalating issues that exceed documented thresholds or troubleshooting steps.
- Support approved network and server changes but does not independently design or implement network architecture.
- Respond to assigned network-related incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot common connectivity issues (wired, wireless, VPN) using established runbooks.
- Coordinate with Service-Desk and senior engineers to ensure timely resolution.
- Follow established network and Windows system security standards and configurations.
- Assist with firewall rule updates, VPN access changes, and access reviews only with approval and supervision.
- Follow standard operating procedures to remediate situations based on the symptoms of the problem.
- Update network documentation, diagrams, and inventory records as changes are made.
- Follow change management, access control, and escalation procedures consistently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed for audit and operational purposes.
In addition, for this specific role, we need someone who:
- Has a minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, network support, NOC, or infrastructure-related roles
- Has experience with service-desk or junior administrator responsibilities with exposure to networking and Windows systems administration
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, SD-WANs)
- Has basic familiarity with enterprise network hardware and monitoring tools
- Has a basic understanding of Windows Server and endpoint operating system concepts.
- Is comfortable working within ticketing, change management, and documentation systems
- Has had exposure to firewalls, VPNs, or wireless networks in a corporate environment
- Has had exposure to Windows server patching, endpoint management tools, virtualization platforms, or backup systems.
