Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager, will lead the company’s EHS programs and manage all EHS-related activities, communications, training, and management systems for the company’s dual site operations. This role provides regulatory leadership by ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local requirements; overseeing environmental and safety initiatives; and serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies on matters related to wastewater, air emissions, hazardous waste, toxic substances, employee safety, and chemical safety.

Acting as the site Emergency Coordinator, Safety Officer, and Chemical Hygiene Officer, the EHS Manager will play a critical role in fostering and sustaining a strong culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s EHS programs, including chemical safety, across dual-site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate EHS Director on key safety initiatives, ensure alignment with corporate safety goals, and actively participate in corporate safety metrics reporting to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies concerning wastewater, air emissions, hazardous waste, and other environmental or safety compliance requirements.
  • Serve as the site’s primary Emergency Coordinator, Safety Officer, and Chemical Hygiene Officer, and OSHA liaison.
  • Establish and lead a safety committee to promote employee engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the identification, triage, investigation and corrective action process for safety observations, incidents, near misses and injuries.
  • Conduct and lead risk assessments, site inspections, and internal audits to identify hazards, evaluate compliance, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Oversee hazardous waste management programs, including proper characterization, container management, storage, labeling, accumulation controls, employee training, and coordination of compliant off-site shipment and disposal through approved vendors.
  • Ensure the safe and compliant shipment of hazardous materials and regulated chemicals between company-owned facilities, including oversight of packaging, labeling, documentation, and employee training in accordance with DOT and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to establish and maintain systems governing EHS documentation, including training records, health/safety manuals, incident/accident reports, regulatory records and compliance documents.
  • Develop, implement and deliver EHS training programs to ensure employee awareness of regulatory programs, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Audit facilities or processes to identify weaknesses or risks and proactively develops and implements corrective actions such as hazardous material handling, storage, and disposal to minimize environmental impact and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, drills and incident investigations, coordinating with internal teams and external responders as necessary to improve site readiness and response effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S.Person as defined by U.S. export control laws (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) to comply with applicable government regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
