Location: Burlington, MA (onsite support for project sites in the Boston area)
Pay: $60 to $70 per hour
Type of role: Contract (11 months)
- Provide owner’s representative field engineering support for a sewer rehabilitation project
- Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field conditions to resolve technical issues quickly
- Coordinate design clarifications and change recommendations between contractors and the design engineering office

We're seeking a Civil Field Engineer to support an underground linear water rehabilitation project (sewer-focused) for a utility client in the Boston area. This is a highly field‑facing role that provides technical support to construction crews and coordinates with the design engineering office when clarifications or changes are needed.
Key responsibilities- Act as the owner’s representative in the field, supporting quality, constructability, and issue resolution
- Review construction drawings and project documents for field applicability and compliance
- Log, review, and help facilitate responses for RFIs, clarifications, and field changes
- Coordinate with the design engineering office to evaluate potential revisions and ensure alignment
- Support schedule awareness, cost control visibility, and documentation discipline as needed
- Perform material takeoffs, field estimates, and basic quantity verification
- Communicate clearly with contractors, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to keep work moving safely and efficiently
- Promote adherence to safety requirements and site regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil preferred; other engineering disciplines considered)
- 2 to 6 years of experience in construction management and/or design supporting similar underground or utility construction
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Strong communication and organizational skills with consistent follow-through
- Prior experience with linear water rehabilitation, sewer rehabilitation, or related underground infrastructure work
- PE license highly preferred but not required
- Familiarity with cost control, scheduling, and construction documentation workflows
