POSITION:Community Mentor (1 year position)
JOB GOAL: Increase positive and safe school culture based on school’s core values; enhance student-staff relationships; support at-risk students; increase diversity of adult role models from communities that are currently underrepresented in the faculty and staff; strengthen community connection to the school.
Qualifications- Excellent relationship building skills with school aged students
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults
- Experience working with youth of diverse cultures and socio-economic statuses
Reports to: Principal and Dropout Prevention Coordinator
Performance Responsibilities- Connect and provide mentorship to students at BIS and schools across the district.
- Work to provide community resources to students.
- Assisting staff in developing positive school culture.
- De-escalate situations within a calm and appropriate manner.
- Participate in a BPS mentor training as a part of on-boarding.
Unaffiliated; $35/hour; up to 15 hours per week
