Reporting to the Children's Librarian, this position supports a Children's Department that prides itself on the highest quality of service at one of the busiest public desk within the Library. Anticipated start date is January 26, 2026.
- Greet library users and perform all Children'sdesk activities, including but not limited to assisting patrons locate library materials, providing recommendations, and answering program inquiries.
- Supporting the Children’s Librarian and other Children’s staff
- Prepare and maintain children’s space for the day, including the play area
- Assist library users via phone and in person
- Prepare and return materials to the shelves; shelf reading and maintenance
- Assist in closing or opening the library
- High School diploma
- Experience working with the public
- Computer skills and flexibility to adapt to constantly changing technology
- Excellent customer service skills
- Attention to detail
This is a temporary part time position, 19 hours per week; the temporary appointment is for up to 180 days.
HoursHours are Monday 5pm – 9pm, Wednesday 5pm – 9pm, Thursday 6pm – 9pm, and Friday 3pm – 6pm; includes a one in three-week Saturday rotation 9:45am – 5pm with Friday hours reduced. Opportunity to work Sundays and summer Saturdays as overtime shifts.
Pay RatePay rate is at $19.20/hr
