About the RoleThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing the construction execution of complex solar PV and energy storage projects delivered through third-party EPC contractors. This role oversees multiple projects or project portfolios to ensure construction activities meet Next Grid standards, contract requirements, budget expectations, and schedule commitments. The Senior Project Manager acts as the Owner’s representative during construction and serves as a key liaison between internal teams, EPC contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
This role plays a critical part in minimizing project risk, ensuring quality execution, and supporting Next Grid’s continued growth in distributed generation markets.
- Plan, budget, manage, and complete turn-key solar PV projects of significant complexity, including portfolios or strategic initiatives.
- Manage construction activities across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Monitor contractor progress against schedules, budgets, and contractual deliverables.
- Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
- Serve as the primary owner representative for third-party EPC contractors.
- Review and track EPC contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Manage contractor performance including schedule, quality, safety, and reporting.
- Review and approve contractor invoices and payment milestones.
- Support contract administration including EPC agreements, change orders, and procurement coordination.
- Review construction contracts and development documents during due diligence to identify potential risks or inconsistencies.
- Review change order requests and validate scope, schedule impact, and cost justification.

- Ensure compliance with Next Grid standards and contract requirements.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to schedule, budget, and construction execution.
- Coordinate with field personnel and construction managers to ensure system quality and adherence to design.
- Participate in site inspections, milestone reviews, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure construction aligns with engineering drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Serve as the communication bridge between internal teams and external partners.
- Maintain open communication with developers, EPC contractors, engineers, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide regular reporting on construction progress, risks, and milestones.
- Mentor and support Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and field personnel.
- Assist in developing standardized project management practices and documentation.
- Maintain awareness of emerging solar technologies, construction methods, and industry trends.
- Evaluate potential improvements to construction practices and project delivery models.
- 5–8+ years of solar or construction project management experience.
- Proven experience managing complex construction projects or project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of solar PV system construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with construction management tools including Procore, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
- 10+ years of solar or construction project management experience.
- Experience overseeing third-party EPC contractors.
- Knowledge of civil, electrical, and utility construction practices.
- Understanding of medium voltage systems and electrical infrastructure.
- Experience with commissioning PV systems and battery energy storage systems.
- OSHA 10 certification (minimum).
- Professional certifications such as NABCEP PV or CSL preferred.
- Experience with SCADA, data acquisition systems, and system monitoring.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Travel required approximately 50% of the time.
- Typical schedule includes 3 days per week on project sites.
