Our client in Woburn, MA is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join their team in a key contract‑to‑hire role. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this position begins with full ownership of payroll and will expand into broader accounting functions once payroll is fully mastered. Location: Woburn, MA (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday‑Friday
Pay: Up to $42/hour (contract to hire)
Perm Range: $80,000-$90,000 annually
Position OverviewYou will manage bi‑weekly, multi‑state payroll using ADP Workforce Now and support both HR and leadership with payroll accuracy, reporting, and compliance. Over time, you'll also assist with AP, AR, and general accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Process bi‑weekly, multi‑state payroll accurately and on schedule
- Maintain payroll data including hires, separations, and pay changes
- Audit timesheets and verify hours for policy and regulatory compliance
- Reconcile payroll prior to submission and validate all reports
- Manage benefit deductions (including 401k), garnishments, PTO accruals, and payouts
- Prepare payroll journal entries and workers' compensation reporting
- Support annual filings such as 5500 and 401k non‑discrimination testing
- Respond to employee payroll questions and Verification of Employment requests
- Reconcile payroll bank statements and review labor distribution for accuracy
- Provide backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Assist with daily accounting tasks, finance operations, and special projects
- 10+ years of payroll processing experience (ADP strongly preferred)
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- FPC or CPP certification is a plus
- A motivated self‑starter with strong initiative
