Diamond Vogel is seeking a Coatings Chemist to join our Research & Development team in Burlington, IA. This position supports existing coating products by providing technical support and developing new products for Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales. The Chemist will work hands‑on in a laboratory environment while contributing to high-quality products aligned with Diamond Vogel’s standards and values.

Responsibilities

• Prepare liquid coating samples and assist with product development activities
• Perform physical and analytical testing with appropriate supervision
• Accurately record test results, observations, and experimental data
• Communicate findings clearly to R&D team members and cross‑functional partners
• Support Manufacturing, QC, Purchasing, and Sales, with technical information
• Follow laboratory safety, quality, and compliance standards
• Maintain laboratory organization and proper handling of materials and equipment
• Learn and apply testing methods, laboratory software, and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field required; chemistry coursework required
• Laboratory experience preferred but not required; training provided
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and work effectively in a team environment
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Inquisitive mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn laboratory and data systems
