Job Description

The Sr. Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation solutions for high-throughput biology protocols and workflows.

They will collaborate with scientists and automation engineers to develop, transfer, and validate manual process steps to automated liquid handling and integrated systems and work with system integrators on the design, implementation, and support of high-throughput automated platforms.

They will also be responsible for assessing the efficiency and quality of operations to prioritize process improvements and optimizations.

This is not a standard Automation Engineer. They will be setting up systems to do machine learning and automating biotech processes, such as testing for contents or concentration of compounds within the test samples.

Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills

5+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer or related in a biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical, or similar R&D or manufacturing environment

2+ years of experience with developing and improving protocol methods for biotech or chemical process or testing equipment

Experience using programming languages such as Python or C#

Experience in Creating Workflows Based on Lab Requirements

Experience with technical documentation such as process diagrams and system requirements

Familiarity with molecular biology and cell culture workflows

Experience integrating equipment with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) tools

BS in Science or Engineering Discipline

Desired Experience and Skills

Competent programming methods on Hamilton, Agilent, or High Res Biosolutions liquid handlers

Experience working with automating high-throughput screening workflows

Experience working with automated iPSC cell culture systems
