DescriptionWhat you’ll be doing
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as Youth Mentor. This role involves working closely with young people, providing guidance, mentorship, and partaking in organized activities that promote personal development and community engagement.
Responsibilities- Engage with young people in a positive and supportive manner, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
- Act as a mentor and role model, offering guidance, advice, and support to young participants.
- Facilitate a small group with other mentors.
- Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and positive social interaction among youth through games, lessons and in small groups.
- Uphold and promote the organization's values, policies, and goals while interacting with youth and other volunteers.
- Passion for working with young people and a genuine interest in their development.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate to and engage with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Communication:
Mentors enhance their communication skills by effectively conveying ideas, actively listening, and understanding the needs of young individuals from diverse backgrounds. - Empathy and Patience:
Working closely with youth, teachers mentors to be empathetic, patient, and understanding, allowing them to connect better and offer support in challenging situations. - Leadership and Role Modeling:
Mentors serve as role models, developing leadership qualities that inspire and guide young people toward positive behaviors and decisions. - Problem‑Solving:
Addressing various challenges faced by mentees helps mentors develop problem‑solving skills, finding creative and constructive solutions. - Adaptability:
Mentors learn to adapt their mentoring style to suit the individual needs, preferences, and personalities of different youth, fostering a more effective mentor‑mentee relationship.
Willing to undergo a background or police records check
