Position: Upper School Seasonal Part-Time Varsity Beach Volleyball Head Coach

Overview

Crystal seeks a Seasonal part-time Varsity Beach Volleyball Head Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for oversight of athletic training; strength and conditioning workouts; providing technical support and training to athletes; and overall communication related to the sport. Coaches have responsibilities to students under supervision, parents, the school, and the community.

Essential Functions
  • Exhibits and mentors scholar-athletes in good sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Attends league meetings and completes required trainings/certifications.
  • Attends mandatory coaches’ meetings and trainings.
  • Attends pre-season Athletics meetings with scholar-athletes and parents/guardians.
  • Monitors the conduct of scholar-athletes during practices and games.
  • Provides a safe environment by checking the playing area and equipment before each practice and game/competition.
  • Prevents injuries through thoughtful, balanced workouts.
  • Instructs scholar-athletes in the basic rules and fundamentals of the sport.
  • Assists in implementing training programs for the Athletic Development Program.
  • Implements athlete registration and evaluations and maintains the evaluation database.
  • Reports match scores.
  • Sends weekly communication email to scholar-athletes and their parents/guardians with a look ahead to the coming 1-2 weeks and objectives.
  • Maintains regular communication with scholar-athletes, parents/guardians, and the Athletics Department to ensure a positive experience for all.
  • Upholds Crystal’s core values and fosters an inclusive team environment.
Travel
  • Travel to practice courts in the Bay Area.
  • Travel to and from competitions in the Bay Area, with potential for overnight travel for regional and state competitions within California if the team qualifies.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Three years minimum of related experience preferred.
  • Valid CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (American Red Cross/American Heart Association).
  • Indoor and/or Beach Volleyball coaching experience.
  • General knowledge of best practices in interscholastic athletics, specifically Indoor and/or Beach Volleyball.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.
  • Works in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
