Position: Hospital Based Patient Advocate

Overview

Join to apply for the Hospital Based Patient Advocate role at Elevate Patient Financial Solutions®. This full-time position is located 100% onsite at a hospital in Burlingame, CA, with a Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Driving is required; must have a valid Driver's License.

The purpose of this role is to connect uninsured hospital patients to programs that will cover their medical expenses. As a Patient Advocate, you will evaluate eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance programs through bedside visits and in-person interactions, guiding patients face-to-face through the application process, ensuring thorough completion and follow-up. The goal is to meet our benchmark that 98% of patients are screened at bedside.

Responsibilities
  • Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county medical or disability assistance.
  • Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in applicable company programs and hospital systems for all cases.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing trainings to apply new content in dealings with patients and cases.
  • Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
  • Answer incoming calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork necessary to submit enrollment and renewal for prospective Medicaid patients.
  • Maintain contact with the applicant and responsible government agency by phone or as structured via the daily work queue.
  • Assist the applicant with gathering additional reports or records, meeting appointment dates and times, and arranging transportation if warranted.
  • Request home visits as needed to acquire documentation.
  • Inform the client in a timely manner of all approvals and denials of coverage per established protocols.
  • Participate in additional training requirements to stay abreast of rules and regulations for governmental programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Some college coursework preferred.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.
  • Adaptability with changing processes, computer systems, and government programs.
  • Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Remote and Hybrid positions require a home internet connection meeting the company’s speed criteria.
Base pay range

$24.00/hr - $30.00/hr

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
