Join to apply for the Hospital Based Patient Advocate role at Elevate Patient Financial Solutions®. This full-time position is located 100% onsite at a hospital in Burlingame, CA, with a Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Driving is required; must have a valid Driver's License.
The purpose of this role is to connect uninsured hospital patients to programs that will cover their medical expenses. As a Patient Advocate, you will evaluate eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance programs through bedside visits and in-person interactions, guiding patients face-to-face through the application process, ensuring thorough completion and follow-up. The goal is to meet our benchmark that 98% of patients are screened at bedside.
Responsibilities- Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county medical or disability assistance.
- Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
- Maintain accurate documentation in applicable company programs and hospital systems for all cases.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Participate in ongoing trainings to apply new content in dealings with patients and cases.
- Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
- Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
- Answer incoming calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork necessary to submit enrollment and renewal for prospective Medicaid patients.
- Maintain contact with the applicant and responsible government agency by phone or as structured via the daily work queue.
- Assist the applicant with gathering additional reports or records, meeting appointment dates and times, and arranging transportation if warranted.
- Request home visits as needed to acquire documentation.
- Inform the client in a timely manner of all approvals and denials of coverage per established protocols.
- Participate in additional training requirements to stay abreast of rules and regulations for governmental programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some college coursework preferred.
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
- Adaptability with changing processes, computer systems, and government programs.
- Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Effective communication both orally and in writing with a variety of individuals.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Remote and Hybrid positions require a home internet connection meeting the company’s speed criteria.
$24.00/hr - $30.00/hr
