Johnson County Hunger Free Coalitions galvanize the community behind the cause, empower community leaders, build long-term bonds of collaboration, maximize effective use of resources, and ensure mutual accountability for results. We are here to educate and equip people to advocate for programs that can help end hunger in Johnson County, Texas and to support projects that are currently reflecting these efforts.
Ameri Corps VISTAs serving with the Johnson County Hunger Free Coalition will help expand the Coalition’s reach, develop sustainable processes, and strengthen community capacity. Their work will focus on building systems that support collaborative projects, increasing community engagement, improving resource coordination, and supporting long-term planning that enhances the Coalition’s ability to create meaningful, lasting impact.
The VISTA will work with the Johnson County Hunger initiative to support a community-based coalition that is action-oriented, impactful, and sustainable as it works to reduce hunger and poverty in Johnson County. VISTAs will carry this out through three primary objectives in their support of the coalition: (1) support the development and implementation of best practices, (2) assist with sustainable development efforts, and (3) contribute to transition planning to strengthen long-term capacity.
