The Highline Public Schools Student Learning Department is seeking a Special Education Specialist to join our team of educators for the upcoming  school year!

SUMMARY: The Central Office Specialist is an accomplished teacher who serves in a leadership role at the system level. A specialist provides expert consultation through facilitating collaboration, instructional coaching, and serving as a system leader across a variety of roles. The Central Office Specialist sees their ongoing learning and development as essential to achieve equitable results for all students.

Central Office Specialists provide instructional guidance, professional learning, and program implementation across the system. The Special Education Specialist will be responsible for supporting building staff in implementation of special education duties. This will include the creation and delivery of professional learning, one-on-one coaching, and problem-solving with both building and district staff. The specialist will help implement the district strategic vision and the goals of the special education department.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of working as a special education teacher or school psychologist, including experience at designing and delivering specially designed instruction and accommodations, modifying content for students with disabilities, and writing special education documentation. The candidate should be a strong collaborator and be able to effectively facilitate multi-disciplinary teams that incorporate both parent and student voice.

Experience delivering professional development is preferred, as is a strong understanding and interest in building inclusion for all students, with a Universally Designed Learning lens.
