At American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviours, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.

Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.

ICS Tech EMEA are redefining how we do engineering at American Express.

Inner Sourcing is a cultural shift in how we build software at American Express. It recognises that our source code belongs to the whole organisation, not individual teams. By opening our codebases, every engineer at Amex has the opportunity to contribute to any project.

We are looking for an innovative, forward‑thinking Engineer II with a growth mindset and an appetite for challenging our approach to software development. If you are open‑minded, willing to learn and passionate about building software using great engineering practices, then we want to talk to you.

Our team uses a variety of tech stacks and works with code, data, and configuration to rapidly deploy capabilities across EMEA markets to fill critical market needs using an Inner Source model. The successful applicant will be an experienced software engineer with a curiosity for diving into new codebases and working in a variety of technologies to power and protect the growth of our International Card Services business.

When considering whether someone is a great fit for our team, we won’t focus solely on languages used or experience, but on their ability to think creatively, approach problems with an intelligent mindset, and above all their passion to Make Stuff Happen! We are looking for good communicators who are comfortable with regular context switching, reaching out to other teams and working through problems in a collaborative way.

As part of our diverse tech team, you will design, code and ship software that makes us an essential part of our customers’ digital lives. You will work alongside talented engineers in an open, supportive, inclusive environment where your voice is valued, and make your own tech decisions to help solve challenging problems. Amex offers a range of opportunities to work with the latest technologies and encourages you to back the broader engineering community through open source.

And because we understand the importance of keeping your skills fresh and relevant, we give you dedicated time to invest in your professional development. Find your place in technology on #Team Amex.
