Delivery Specialist at O'Reilly Auto Parts
Overview
The Delivery Specialist will maintain and operate store vehicles to deliver parts and/or products to professional customers in a safe and efficient manner. This role may involve collecting money on C.O.D. deliveries and picking up customer returns. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate company vehicles to deliver parts and products to customers in a safe and efficient manner.
- Use delivery fleet management handheld devices to process deliveries, capture customer signatures, update vehicle mileage, and complete daily vehicle inspections.
- Keep vehicles clean and maintained; complete daily vehicle inspections prior to operation.
- Keep delivery vehicles, keys, fuel/fleet credit cards, handheld devices, and monies collected secure at all times.
- Pick up customer returns (new, warranty, cores, etc.) and fill out driver return slips.
- Communicate any problems or special needs from customers to store management.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or vehicle damage to the store manager immediately.
- Ensure fuel tank is filled and lock and secure the vehicle at the end of the day.
- Clock in/out according to company policy.
- Assist with other duties as assigned, including customer service, sweeping, stocking, merchandising, running errands, handling core returns, and checking in stock orders.
- May occasionally assist customers as a cashier and help with merchandising tasks when business dictates.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities
- Required:
- Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing delivery situations.
- Driving record must meet the standard in the company's 14/18-point system.
- Must possess a legally required state driver's license and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
- Desire to work in automotive parts environment is a plus.
Preferred
- Familiar with automotive parts.
- Ability to operate other light store equipment.
- Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
