PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools.
We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes, but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.
The Team Member we are searching for
The ideal Facilities Technician believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure success for the schools across the organization. The Facilities Technician reports to the Facilities Director and will oversee the maintenance and upkeep for our school sites.
What you will need to accomplish:
- Analyze maintenance needs necessary to establish standards for all effective preventive maintenance and ground maintenance programs
- Collaborate with Facilities Director and/or Facilities Coordinator to determine appropriate school improvements and required repairs
- Oversee any remodels, repairs, or other related work authorized by the Facilities Director
- Coordinate with school leaders and/or Facilities Director to ensure all projects are completed with safety in mind
- Coordinate with Facilities Manager to receive and track work order requests and ensure the timely completion of work orders
- Understand and adhere to OSHA regulations as well as health and safety best practices
- Oversee and ensure all schools are clean and meeting maintenance expectations
- Conduct repairs as necessary
- Work with various stakeholders in a professional manner
- Attend meetings and workshops as assigned; perform work demonstrations as appropriate
- Ensure the workplace is safe for themselves and others at the school sites
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above
- 1-2 years minimum of construction or building maintenance experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity
- Able to work in an indoor and outdoor environment
- Able to climb ladders and contact with cleaning agents and chemicals
- Must be flexible and team-oriented
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
- Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position
Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
Compensation & Benefits:
- This is a full-time non-exempt, hourly position
