Overview
This position works under limited supervision and is responsible for conducting payroll compliance and/or authenticity audits, as well as overseeing the overall workflow and accuracy of audit activities. This position requires exercising independent judgement and discretion in the development and implementation of department systems, procedures, and processes to ensure audit activities align with the Plans guiding principles and comply with applicable state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities- Oversee the overall workflow and accuracy of audit activities in the department
- Work closely with department management to identify audit candidates, manage auditor workload, and track department and individual progress against key performance indicators
- Assist auditors with files, and review files for timeliness, accuracy, and completeness
- Conduct payroll compliance audits including, but not limited to, Desktop and Authenticity audits
- Negotiate complex allocation disputes, as directed by management and Trustees
- Present issues and disputed matters at review committee meetings with Trustees, Plan management, and external consultants
- Liaise with Plans’ counsel and external auditors to manage disputes matters, evaluate options, and maximize recoveries
- Identify and implement process enhancements, and assist with testing system enhancements
- Conduct research from databases and various sources to generate ad-hoc reports, as needed
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for department staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Equivalent experience in a multi-employer, Taft-Hartley environment

- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: (listed below)
- Knowledge of basic accounting and audit principles
- Knowledge of basic Collective Bargaining Agreements or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Specific knowledge of the sound recording and/or news and broadcast industry is a plus or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Knowledge of Taft-Hartley multi-employee pension and health plans or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Knowledge of Trust Agreements or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Knowledge of Audit and Collection Programs or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Knowledge of Eligibility and Pension Benefits or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Knowledge of the various computer applications (Oracle, Documentum, CCD, CMD, V3, etc.) or ability to quickly gain knowledge
- Skill in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook (intermediate level)
- Skill in Adobe Pro (intermediate level)
- Skill in negotiating and resolving complex allocation disputes
- Skill in presenting matters to the Plans’ various committees
- Ability to analyze complex agreements
