About Crane Aerospace & Electronics

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. The Burbank, CA facility produces parts that stop aircraft, supporting passengers and military personnel. The Landing & Cabin Systems team develops brake control systems and premium cabin actuation solutions used on tens of thousands of aircraft worldwide.

Job Summary

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Operations Manager is responsible for successfully transitioning products from development into production. The role works closely with business and program management, engineering, site leaders, value stream managers, MEs and QEs to create operations plans and conduct production readiness reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage NPI SCM/Ops efforts within the solution, including interface with strategic and tactical supply chain teams.
  • Support IPT teams for new NPI programs and determine priorities, remove roadblocks, address engineering issues and ensure actions are completed.
  • Assist and drive transition to production.
  • Identify and support the operational lead for each program or own operational lead requirements based on NPI effort level.
  • Maintain and report on critical NPI metrics, such as inventory tracking, on‑time‑delivery, milestone achievement, action items and material costs.
  • Analyze the supply base and determine supplier capabilities for required specifications and time frames; manage material acquisition and ensure successful material changeover to production buying.
  • Create and maintain program documentation, including supply chain dossiers, manufacturing dossiers, and sourcing plans.
  • Attend program meetings (PDRs, CDRs, Phase Gate Reviews, Program Reviews, Vertical Reviews) and coordinate supplier assessments.
  • Assess staffing needs to support programs and identify NPI headcount requirements.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five years in a manufacturing environment, or an advanced degree and three years in manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, data acquisition or analysis, and other relevant information.
  • Strong negotiation, influence, relationship‑building, multi‑project management and stress‑tolerance skills.
  • Proficient computer and data analysis skills.
  • BS in engineering or related field; MS or MBA preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years managing supply of development hardware.
  • Experience with program management or program management tools.
  • Understanding of ITAR rules and requirements.
Working Conditions
  • Standard office environment with substantial visual concentration on detail.
  • Normal manufacturing environment conditions, including PPE usage.
  • Potential exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes.
  • 25% standing, 75% sitting, lifting up to 25 lbs, pushing up to 25 lbs.

Additional Information

Crane employs Lean manufacturing techniques to optimize efficiency and accuracy. All employees must pass a satisfactory background check. FAA sensitive positions require random drug testing.

Compensation

Salary range: $118,300 – $137,900, depending on experience and qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for performance‑based bonus programs.
