We are seeking a detail-oriented Fire Life Safety Estimator I to support our growing fire protection and low voltage division. This role is responsible for preparing accurate project estimates for fire alarm and life safety system projects, reviewing bid documents, performing project takeoffs, and developing customer proposals.
The ideal candidate has experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and building codes and can translate project requirements into detailed and profitable estimates. This position plays a key role in supporting project success by ensuring bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Review bid specifications, construction drawings, and project documents to determine project scope and estimating requirements
- Perform material and labor takeoffs for fire alarm and life safety system projects
- Gather and review blueprints, specifications, and supporting documentation required for estimating
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed project proposals for customer review
- Submit bid documentation and assist with required project forms and bid submissions
- Conduct facility site visits to assess project conditions and validate project scope
- Identify potential project risks, cost factors, and scope changes that may impact estimates
- Develop and submit RFIs (Requests for Information) and clarifications during the bidding process
- Partner with Project Managers, Account Executives, and Department Managers to ensure estimates align with project requirements and company standards
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to obtain pricing and technical information
- Assist in translating awarded estimates into clear project documentation for project teams
- Develop well‑written proposals that can be converted into project execution plans when awarded
- Maintain organized project files including drawings, specifications, and estimate documentation
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance while supporting project timelines and bid deadlines
- 1-2 years in Construction and/or low voltage installation
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid California Driver License, and proof of auto insurance
- Ability to drive for 2+ hours in a work shift/day, daily
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily
- Stand or Sit for long periods (4+ hours), daily
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, under all temperature variations
- Ability to make repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, daily
- Work environment may be construction sites, commercial properties, and/or high‑rise buildings
- Move/Transport items weighing 20+ pounds, occasionally
