Hours per week: 37.5
Start & finish times:
Rotating shifts Monday to Friday
Mon – Thurs 6.00am – 2.00pm
Friday 6.00am – 11.30am
Mon – Thurs 2.00pm – 10.00pm
Friday 11.30am – 5.00pm
Nasmyth is a leading supplier to the aviation industry, manufacturing everything from airframe assemblies to engines. We also specialise in instrumentation components for commercial airliners, business jets, military aircraft, helicopters and much more.
Summary of role:We are looking for a motivated and skilled CNC Turner with experience in 2/3 axis, Mazatrol, CNC turning, supporting the manufacture of high-quality, next-generation aircraft engine components. Experienced in precision engineering environments, working to tight tolerances on high-value parts and exotic materials such as Titanium, Inconel, and hardened steels. Thrives in fast-paced, changing environments with a flexible and proactive approach to work.
Apprentice trained or qualified by experience, with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of quality standards. Self-motivated, capable of multitasking effectively, and able to work independently with guidance and supervision while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. - Working within the company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) framework.
- Contributing to the site HSE culture of improving our working environment through maintaining a safe and organised working area (5S).
- Performing basic maintenance checks and actions on equipment as part of a daily routine.
- Following manufacturing methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain product conformance and traceability.
- Performing component quality checks using calibrated measuring equipment.
- Working to achieve standard operating times.
- Setting and operating multiple machines where required.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement within manufacturing methods and supporting implementation.
- Working to achieve the cell production plan.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments to support achievement of Customer and Company targets, objectives, and goals.
- Working as part of a team.
- Participation in the company employee development programme.
- Training and mentoring of apprentices.
- Transferring of knowledge to team members.
- Motivated by the prospect of supporting the manufacture of next generation aeroplane engine components.
- Proficient in Mazatrol CNC programming and operation.
- Happy to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Comfortable with change and a flexible approach to working.
- Mechanical Apprentice trained or qualified by experience in 2/3 Axis CNC Turning.
- Previous experience in Precision Engineering ideally in Aerospace, Automotive, Motorsport, Oil & Gas or Subcontract machining.
- Experience working with High Value components or exotic materials including but not limited to Titanium, Inconel, and Hardened Steel.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external parties at all levels.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, with guidance and supervision.
- Good working knowledge of Quality Standards.
