STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled physical labor and other duties in the maintenance, repair, construction and clean‑up of City parks, and facilities. Requires work on weekends and/or holidays as needed. This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position consisting of a maximum 29‑hour work week.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or GED required. Any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position, including knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, procedures, and standard practices used in the maintenance, repair, construction, and clean‑up of City parks, facilities and drainage systems.
LICENSING & TRAININGMust possess a valid driver’s license prior to employment. Must also obtain National Incident Management System (NIMS) training with FEMA based on assignment. Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES- Prepare and maintain sports fields, including watering, dragging, lining, tamping, and raking for sports such as soccer, football, baseball, and softball.
- Perform general clean‑up work such as sweeping, mopping, emptying trash containers, washing windows, walls, sinks, restrooms, and removing sand and debris from patios, slabs, walks, and play areas.
- Maintain right‑of‑ways in parks, clearing debris, cutting weeds, and cleaning ditches using required hand tools.
- Operate a variety of trucks and equipment such as power tools, chainsaws, concrete saws, air hammers, pavement breakers, tampers, and two‑way radios in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Assist in installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing sprinkler systems.
- Complete required daily logs and reports.
- Pick up trash and check trash cans throughout the City.
- Perform routine maintenance to assigned recreation equipment and buildings.
- May be required to perform daily vehicle inspections and clean and wash equipment.
- Comply with and promote safe practices in agreement with City safety rules and procedures.
- Represent the City with respect and confidence, building trust with colleagues and the community.
Requires hard physical labor in a variety of weather conditions, including extremely hot weather. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift heavy objects up to 90 pounds. Requires stamina for long periods of standing or walking, and visual acuity for reading printed materials. Work may involve exposure to vibration, high temperatures, chemicals, and loud noise.
