At Riverence we work together as a close‑knit family to raise the standards of aquaculture and provide truly sustainable seafood. Riverence operates 14 fish farms, a research and development facility, a processing plant and four brood facilities in the Magic Valley of , WA and rural .
The Aquaculture Technician in Training will demonstrate a passion for fish husbandry, a good work ethic, attention to detail and will perform a variety of aquaculture husbandry duties to include daily farm chores such as feeding, mortality removal and screen scrubbing.
Essential Functions- Knowledge of the facility including sections, pond numbers, and rearing areas.
- Knowledge of the Emergency Action Plan.
- Understanding of the role on the farm and dependability, trustworthiness and consistency.
- General understanding of the feed schedule and farm workflow.
- Knowledge of locations of offline settling ponds, sumps, influent valves and head ditches.
- Knowledge of fish barriers and their uses including tail screens, jump board, graders, screens, etc.
- Knowledge of facility equipment and potential farm hazards.
- Awareness of significant manure build‑up, wasted feed and broken tail screens.
- Awareness of technician activities and the significance of withdrawal tags on the ponds.
- SDS locations and their use.
- Biosecurity, hatch‑house, outdoor, and disinfections.
- Counting and picking mortality, ability to handle and select proper grading techniques.
- Truck maintenance, truck cleanliness, cleaning screens, care of vehicles, equipment, and farm safety.
- Basic pond hygiene, cleaning of debris on head ditch grates and first use pond water entry points.
- Vacuum/pumping operation and maintenance.
- Removing and recording mortalities, monitoring fish behavior and reporting anomalies to supervisors.
- Assisting with fish transfers and performing routine maintenance on equipment and systems.
- Completing all tasks in compliance with required safety guidelines, participating in all safety training, and willingness to perform any farm task.
- Practicing bio‑security procedures and maintaining appropriate housekeeping and sanitation procedures.
- Providing prompt, friendly, and courteous service to internal and external customers and helping out with other farm areas when needed.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in an outdoor environment and is routinely exposed to inclement weather conditions.
Physical DemandsThis job involves heavy work, frequently exerting force to move objects. The job involves lifting occasionally up to 50 lbs. Working in waders, climbing in and out of raceways and on and off trucks is required. The employee will be required to have a range of motion such as walking, standing, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stirring, repetitive motions, hearing, vision, manual dexterity, and clear vision.
PositionType/Expected Hours of Work
Full‑time position is five days a week, which could include weekends. Part‑time position work as needed weekly hours will vary based on location needs. Expected hours of work begin in the early morning hours and typically end mid‑afternoon as determined by the location’s needs.
TravelLocal travel is required.
Required Education And Experience- The ability to speak, read, understand and follow directions with or without reasonable accommodations is required.
- Driver’s license and good driving record required with reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- High school Education or GED preferred.
- Aquaculture experience preferred.
- Aquaculture or related degree preferred.
