• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Works unsupervised on most tasks
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the reported issue
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Complies with all safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate guidelines
• Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
• Supports other operations as needed (e.g., Service Island support)
• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220) and complete OEM On-Line diagnostic tool courses as required by location fleet mix

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification; post-secondary degree or certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance and brake/tire work
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
• Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
• All other certifications as required by location
• Must have minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
• Proficient computer skills (PC, Windows)
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background checks including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
