A distribution organization is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to serve as the senior financial leader for its distribution business. This role is a key member of the leadership team, supporting strategic planning and driving profitable growth across the organization.

The Director of Finance will oversee all aspects of accounting, finance, and information systems, including controllership, transaction processing, and financial planning & analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts to plan, manage, and optimize the organization’s financial performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive sales growth, margin improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to support pricing strategies, promotions, and program effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to the leadership team by providing financial insight and decision-making support.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting, including data gathering, analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment, including SOX compliance and internal/external audit support.
  • Oversee non-income tax compliance at the federal, state/provincial, and local levels.
  • Monitor actual results versus budget and forecast, recommending and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain scalable accounting processes with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate financial planning and forecasting activities across related business units.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Stay informed on market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies impacting financial strategy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with MBA preferred.
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an international distribution company strongly preferred.
  • Public company accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical skills.
  • Proven experience leading change initiatives such as ERP implementations.
  • Technical accounting skills combined with process aptitude and demonstrated “scale up” in a growth or high change business environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading and developing teams. Using strong communication skills in a collaborative environment is required.
  • Travel requirements:
    Minimal domestic and international travel required as necessary to perform essential job functions.
