Work Objective
Under the direction of the Garage supervisor, the job involves responsibility for bus maintenance functions and the supervision of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled employees who repair and service buses, support vehicles and garage equipment on the night shifts. It consists of ensuring the availability of qualified personnel to fill scheduled and unscheduled needs; verifying that employees are fit for duty and qualified to perform the work assigned;
administering discipline; taking proper action when unsafe or irregular acts or conditions are observed or reported; exercising sound judgment relative to all aspects of assigned duties and protecting company property.
- Ensuring the availability of qualified personnel to fill scheduled and unscheduled needs.

- Performing additional duties and tasks as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of the techniques commonly used in repair and servicing of buses and support vehicles.
- Knowledge of hazards and required safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates and make efficient use of labor and materials.
- Satisfactory prior work record.
- Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing, with the public and outside agencies courteously and effectively.
- Compliance with and enforcement of Company Policies.
- Working knowledge of PC and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Maintenance Management Information System, Ellipse is a plus.
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
Environmental RequirementsWork is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from a vocational technical school with major training in heavy duty automotive repair and extensive work experience at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of heavy duty automotive and related equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State CDL “B” with a passenger’s endorsement and a driver’s license.
- Education in management or related work experience in supervision (although not required) is considered a plus.
