- Minimum qualifications:
Some experience in organized softball at club, select, modified, junior varsity, varsity or college level preferred. - Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
- Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
- Candidates must be employed by the Board of Education in accordance with Article XII-G of the Master Contract between the Buffalo Board of Education and the Buffalo Teacher’s Federation.
- In accordance with the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Section 135.4:
First Aid/CPR/AED required prior to applying to coach. - A person who holds a valid certificate to teach physical education may coach any sport in any school, but must meet the first aid/CPR requirement prior to coaching.
- Other Certified Teachers and Non-Teacher Coaches must complete one of two pathways within the specified time frame:
New York State Coaching Certification program offered by Erie 1 BOCES or NFHS NYS Specific Second Pathway Process.
- Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Principal or other appropriate administrator.
As per the current BTF contract.
