Canonical seeks a highly skilled engineer fluent in Linux, Python, and networking, who is passionate about full‑stack open‑source infrastructure—from bare‑metal and kernel to Kubernetes and advanced data services. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility and a collaborative culture that blends innovative Dev Ops practices with scientific automation.
Responsibilities- Deploy, operate, and maintain Open Stack, Kubernetes, storage solutions, and other open‑source applications.
- Apply Dev Ops practices to automate infrastructure and operational workloads.
- Identify, triage, and resolve incidents while monitoring application performance and anticipating potential issues.
- Advise product teams on technical refinements to meet high‑quality standards.
- Collaborate with global teams, including two to four in‑person sprints per year.
- Degree in software engineering or computer science.
- Hands‑on Python development experience.
- Operational experience in Linux environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes deployment or operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
- Bonus skills:
- Familiarity with Open Stack deployment or operations.
- Familiarity with public or private cloud deployment or operations.
- Distributed work environment with twice‑yearly in‑person team sprints.
