Shop Technician –
Buffalo, NY Branch, Full Time
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
- Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient and professional manner
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Work and manage workloads independently
- Properly complete and submit all required paperwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, including arriving at the designated start time
- Valid NYS driver's license
- Two years of forklift repair experience preferred, including Military, Guard or Reserve MOS/NEC codes (e.g., 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM)
- Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Own tools
- Computer programs – HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, Yale/Hyster contact management system
- Intermediate language skills – read, interpret safety and maintenance documents, write routine reports, speak effectively before groups
- Basic mathematical skills – add, subtract, multiply and divide within American units
- Intermediate reasoning ability – apply common sense to instructions, solve problems in standardized situations
- Stand, walk, use hands, reach – regular
- Talk/hear – frequent
- Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl – occasional
- No special vision requirements
- Lift 10 lbs – regular; 11‑25 lbs – frequent; 26‑100+ lbs – occasional
- Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather; occasional wet or humid conditions; extreme cold/heat; electrical shock, vibration
