Base pay $40.00/hr - $50.00/hr.
ScheduleVaried hours occurring Monday through Friday between 8:30 am Eastern Standard Time and 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
Location & On‑CallBio Matrix Specialty Infusion Pharmacy is seeking a part‑time per‑diem infusion nurse to see patients in their homes in Watertown, NY. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.
Participation in the on‑call rotation is a requirement. The incumbent is expected to be on call approximately once every eight weeks for two weekdays per month and one weekend.
Job DescriptionA registered nurse for home infusion inserts, monitors, and removes an IV used to give medications, blood products, and nutrition to a patient. During IV therapy the nurse monitors the patient for adverse reactions, ensures tubing, bandages, and needles stay in place, performs venous phlebotomy for blood levels, obtains vital signs, completes physical assessments and reviews systems, documents all patient‑related activities, and records medications used.
Provides and coordinates all aspects of staffing services with Company Directors, Nursing Coordinator, and Director of Nursing. Communicates with patients to determine problems and/or solutions regarding treatment, conveys documented information to internal and third‑party staff, and performs a variety of clinical duties and nursing note documentation.
Qualification Requirements- Registered nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
- IV certification and experience in central line care and management.
- Current state RN license in the location denoted.
- Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- CPR certification.
- Experience in home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC or hospital discharge planning.
- Experience in staffing and ability to multi‑task with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic Microsoft Office skill set (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Willingness to travel to patient homes and other health‑care facilities.
- Experience providing customer service meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- RN license in other states preferred.
- Apply nursing process to schedule visits in accordance with prescriptions and established protocols.
- Coordinate SOC and ongoing visits, confirming schedules with patients and agency/RN.
- Ensure schedule emailed to team members.
- Follow up on and enter therapy admin reports and email to the team.
- Review nurses’ notes for content, accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with families, supervisors, and field personnel regarding patient issues.
- Report problems to referring MD, MD office administrator, and Bio Matrix nursing.
- Manage computer functions including data input, reports, searches, and schedules.
- Communicate patient/employee information to answering services when necessary.
- Understand compliance paperwork and training materials.
- Perform duties in accordance with federal and state laws and ethical standards.
- Coordinate staffing with confidentiality and ethics compliance.
- Insert IV cannulas; administer prescribed solutions; monitor infusion sites; evaluate responses.
- Teach patients and caregivers proper Home Infusion administration.
- Prepare clinical records, care plans, progress notes.
- Coordinate patient visit schedules and phone calls.
- Work in patients’ places of residence.
- Drive as assigned within the state.
- Preferred prior experience in Home Infusion Therapy and PICC/MIDLINE certification.
- Prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Maintain scheduling flexibility and work extra hours if needed.
- Pay careful attention to detail.
- Perform related duties as requested.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and audits as directed.
- Provide professional nursing care within the department.
- Coordinate care planning with other disciplines.
- Address psychosocial and physical general aspects of care.
