OverviewRoswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking graduate nurses for our Medical/Surgical Units for various shifts. Our 18 bed Medical/Surgical units serve patients and their caregivers in the post-operative phase of care through discharge. The surgical services frequently cared for include Neurosurgery, Breast surgery, GYN surgery, Head and Neck surgery, Thoracic surgery, GU surgery, GI surgery with medical overflow including chemotherapy.
Nurses work in a multidisciplinary team that includes providers, social workers, nutritionists, therapists (OT/PT/Respiratory) and case managers, and the units focus on providing education to the patient and caregiver to safely continue the recovery process at home.
Work in a multidisciplinary team to support post-operative patients and caregivers. Provide education to patients and families to enable safe recovery port care across the Medical/Surgical Units as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Education and Experience
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; or
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and prior experience in a nursing home, psychiatric facility or other sub-acute facility; or
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.
Notes
- Incumbents must serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse I in order to be eligible for promotion to a Nurse II. Upon successful orientation and three (3) months of satisfactory independent function, eligibility for promotion to Nurse II applies, followed by a one (1) year probationary period as Nurse II.
- Required degrees must be from an accredited college or university or as recognized by Roswell Park as acceptable educational practices.
* Starting pay for New grads is $42.83/hr night shift differential is an additional $6.50 per hour on top of base pay.
