We are currently recruiting for a 1st Flexo Press Operator to join our team. The 1st Shift Flexo Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the printing press to produce labels and related products. This position offers onsite training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry. Previous printing experience in a manufacturing setting is a huge plus. This position reports to the Pressroom Manager.

Pay Rate: $21.50‑$29.00/hour (experienced Flexo Press Operator)

Schedule:

1st shift, Monday‑Friday, 6:30 AM‑3:00 PM, with occasional overtime

Responsibilities
  • Reads job order and loads dies into press, installs print cylinder on shaft and installs print cylinder in press.
  • Fills ink pans, screens and pumps with prescribed inks.
  • Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.
  • Engages print cylinders; adjusts printing impression as necessary, places print cylinders lead‑to‑lead and runs down approval strip.
  • Cuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections such as print‑to‑print out of register, print‑to‑die out of register, missing impression, ink starvation or color adjustments, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Cleans plates, prints cylinders and dies as productividad, performs daily, conducts weekly and monthly maintenance as required.
  • Mixes inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity.
  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 endnu year of narrow‑web Flexo printing experience required.
  • Flexo press, narrow‑web printing, flexible packaging, screen printing, and/or label printing/packaging experience preferred.
  • Multi‑color printing experience.
  • Experience with color matching сіঽ die cutting, plate mounting, and conducting changeovers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to read and interpret ruler, scales, and other measurement devices.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Primarily works in a manufacturing setting, which contains equipment and machinery that can be noisy and hazardous.
  • Is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Is occasionally exposed to chemicals, some of which could be hazardous.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk and use hands to handle or feel.
  • Occasionally required to lift or move up to 40 pounds.
