Description We are hiring! Join a great team and work in an air-conditioned plant in Cheektowaga, NY. We are in need of a Press Assistant on 3rd shift
. This is a Temp to Direct hire role. We offer competitive pay for this job and career progression to a higher Operator role.
Schedule
:
Sunday - Thursday, 10:45 PM to 6:45 AM. Rate: $18/hr plus $1.50/hr shift differential.

- The Printer Assistant provides support services for the Printing Department personnel to keep presses functioning.
- Assists in printing operation and works with the Operator to create a quality product according to our customers specifications. This may include duties such as tightening shafts, pouring solvents, wrapping skids, checking tear sheets, and observing webs on the Printing Press.
- Inspects the print job to ensure the highest quality and coordinates efforts to run the job efficiently.
- Works with inks and utilizes the proper ink for individual work orders. This includes checking the viscosity of inks, maintaining color and proper quantities of ink and solvent appropriate for the job being run.
- Prepares for the next production run by supplying the Press with ink, cores, and rolls.
- Ensures and monitors inks to keep press running.
- Keeps the press area organized, swept, helps to clean presses and clear of debris.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- 2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills to facilitate shift-to-shift communication with Assistant Printers, Printer Operators, production Supervisors, and Leads.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write simple correspondence is necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret job orders to successfully and correctly set up and assist in running the product, in accordance with customer requirements.
- A good eye for color is required, graphic design experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform simple math equations.
- Strong ability to read a tape measure accurately.
