What to Expect

Gigafactory New York is seeking a skilled and highly motivated CNC Programmer/Machinist to join the Energy team and contribute to our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

What You'll Do
  • Program and run 3‑axis CNC Mills and CNC Lathes in a low volume/high mix workflow
  • Operate other machine shop equipment such as a manual mill, bandsaw, shear, cold saw, drill press, etc.
  • Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
  • Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work as well as track and document machining processes and results when necessary
  • Provide feedback to engineers, other machinists and programmers on design and process improvement as well as root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Maintain shop equipment as required as well as keep a clean and organized workspace
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects for the shop and Tesla as well as perform all assignments in accordance with EH&S and security policies
What You'll Bring
  • At least 5 years of CNC Mill programming experience – Haas CNC experience required, DMG experience highly desired
  • Demonstrated experience with CAM software – Master

    CAM, Solid Works
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T as well as thorough knowledge of the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc.
  • Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools, etc.)
  • Sheet metal fabrication – laser table or waterjet, brake press, sheet metal hand tools are desired but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information

Expected Compensation
  • CNC Programmer I – $25.13 – $37.69/hour
  • CNC Programmer II – $26.64 – $39.96/hour
  • CNC Programmer III – $34.92 – $52.38/hour

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
